Find a Good Place

Privacy Policy

Last updated 7 June 2026

This policy explains how Find a Good Place collects and uses personal data, and your rights under the UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018. We are the data controller for the personal data described here.

What we collect

  • Your email address — to create your account, sign you in (via a one-time link) and contact you about the service.
  • Addresses and locations you check — to gather and briefly cache the area information you ask for.
  • Credit and account records — your credit balance and plan, a ledger of credit changes (purchases, free credits, area lookups), your section preferences, and a basic log of actions — for billing, security and to operate the service.

We do not currently use third-party advertising or analytics trackers, and we do not sell your personal data.

Why we use it (lawful bases)

  • Contract — to provide the service you sign up for (accounts, reports, membership).
  • Legitimate interests — to keep the service secure, prevent abuse, and improve it. We balance this against your rights.
  • Legal obligation — to comply with law (e.g. tax, responding to lawful requests).
  • Consent — where we ask for it (e.g. any future marketing emails). You can withdraw consent at any time.

Cookies

We use only strictly necessary cookies:
  • A sign-in session cookie that keeps you logged in.

These are essential to operate the service and are exempt from consent requirements. We do not use advertising, profiling or analytics cookies. If that changes, we will ask for your consent first.

Who processes your data (sub-processors)

We use trusted providers to run the service, acting on our instructions:
  • Vercel — application hosting.
  • Neon — database hosting (your account and report data).
  • Resend — sending sign-in and share emails.
  • Google (Maps Platform) — geocoding, Street View imagery and place data used to build reports.
  • Anthropic — the AI model that analyses imagery to produce report observations.

Some providers may process data outside the UK/EEA; where they do, appropriate safeguards (such as Standard Contractual Clauses) apply.

How long we keep it

We keep your account and report data while your account is active and for a reasonable period afterwards to meet legal and operational needs, then delete or anonymise it. You can ask us to delete your account at any time.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you can: access your data; correct it; delete it; restrict or object to certain processing; request portability; and withdraw consent where processing relies on it. To exercise any right, email us (below). You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).

Children

The service is not directed at children and is intended for adults making property decisions.
